"Wesentlich" - intro

...is a descriptive that stands for everything that is essential, intrinsic, integral, principal, basic, and elementary. The German songwriter Konstantin Wecker sings in one of his love songs : "...wir werden wesentlich und dann leben wir" ("...we are getting real and then we live"  - real in the sense of true, essential, getting back to basics, back to our roots) 

Despite its romantic connotation, this short line in the song sums it all up somehow without needing any spiritual jargon: back to basics, back to the ground of being, the place where all begins and ends and the only place that gives lasting fulfillment and peace (versus the ups and downs of life's circumstances). This ground is life itself “und dann leben wir” (= and then we live), we feel alive, we are more and more in tune with a bigger sense and impulse of life instead of exclusively sensing our small, personal, often claustrophobic self. So yes, I truly love this very line of the song. For all non-German speakers: I do hope you get the sense of it from in-between the lines. Enjoy :o)
