We become strangers to ourselves by living only in the mode of personhood. Personality is just a costume worn temporarily by consciousness. If you live only in the costume, you will not feel steady. You will be very inconsistent in your moods and feelings. Only by recognizing the unchangeable can you truly enjoy the changeable.

Wir werden uns selbst gegenüber fremd, wenn wir ausschließlich im Modus der Person leben. Die Persönlichkeit ist nur ein Kostüm, welches das Bewusstsein vorübergehend trägt. Wenn du nur im Kostüm lebst, wirst du dich stets in Bezug auf Launen und Gefühlen unstabil fühlen. Erst wenn du das Beständige, das Unver-änderliche erkennst, kannst du das Unbeständige wirklich genießen.
