A spiritual paradox? - ein spirituelles Paradox? (Adyashanti)

We can awaken to different levels/dimensions of being. The most common one spoken in non-dual circles is the awakening to being the clear space of awareness – a fundamental shift in who we take ourselves to be. It’s one of the first fundamental awakenings one often has. It’s an extremely freeing experience, as it frees you up from all the identification with a thought generated self (all the ideas, all the images and old judgments etc.). So we can awaken on the level of mind, from the identification with mind and no doubt that this is a most freeing quality of being.

If however, you experience this solely, you won’t experience necessarily unity on a heart level. Awakening on the level of heart is when the intuitive capacity comes online. It entails an opening to a deep emotional availability. It’s almost impossible to experience the deep unity we all share as long as we are emotionally barricaded. You can be in the clearest space of pure awareness and unknowingly be still closed in the heart. Waking up on the heart level is an intuitive capacity in the heart. Some people experience it as “seeing God in everything”. When you are in this open, pure awareness, then this whole life might seem very dreamy, kind of unreal. But when the heart comes online, we experience this relative world as the Divine itself, we see God in everything and everywhere. It’s no longer seen as a flimsy dream, as a secondary importance but as God or the manifestation of the Self. Yes, the ground transcends all the expressions but that does not mean that they are not divine; a profound intimacy with all things through the capacity of the heart is experienced – poetically expressed the sacred.

There is even another level to wake up to, another intuitive capacity coming alive down in the gut – in our most existential sense of self, where our deepest survival instincts reside.

So yes, you start with the freedom from the identification from mind and body but after a while – that what felt so free and liberating starts to feel a little dry (often in non-duality) because it is not deeply connected. The juice comes in when the awakening takes place also on the heart level and inherent in this view there is also an ethic – I call it the ethic of enlightenment. If we really do see the true nature of everything right down to the core/to the heart of things, we see that each thing has an unspeakable value. What could then be more meaningful and beautiful than to recognize the Divine right down in the physicality of form?  This affects the way we interact with the world. If we are coming from the kind of disconnected, yet clear, pure awareness and everything is an illusion/a dream – then, we are going to act based on that realization.

There is the fundamental paradox of the lived experience of reality as we bump into the deepest reality of us. On one hand there is this always already completeness, which is not trying to become better or more evolved.  And right at the same time we are deeply conditioned and imperfect human beings with the endless capacity for us to more fully and richly embody our deepest realizations. If the later is all we know, this state is a state of sorrow. But with the dimension of Being, your world on a human level can become a more and more clear reflection of the embodiment of being at the same time that you have embraced the imperfectness of your humanity. It is an embracing of a paradox – that the Absolute and the human are the same on the deepest levels.

Wir können zu verschiedenen Ebenen/Dimension des Seins erwachen. Die üblichste, in der man in Nicht-Dualitätskreisen spricht, ist das Erwachen zum klaren Raum des Bewusstseins – ein fundamentaler Wechsel bezüglich dessen, wer/was man denkt zu sein. Es ist oft das erste fundamentale Erwachen, das jemand hat. Es ist eine unglaublich befreiende Erfahrung, da es dich von allen Identifikationen mit dem auf Gedanken aufgebautem Selbst befreit (samt seinen Vorstellungen, Bildern und alten Urteilen etc.). Man kann also auf der Verstandesebene erwachen, also von der Identifikation mit dem denkenden Geist und das ist zweifelsohne eine überaus befreiende Qualität des Seins.

Das heißt jedoch nicht, dass man automatisch die Einheit auf Herzebene erfährt. Das Erwachen auf der Ebene des Herzens passiert, wenn die intuitive Kapazität mit ins Spiel kommt. Es bringt ein tiefes sich Öffnen und emotionales Einlassen mit sich. Es ist nahezu unmöglich, die tiefe Einheit, die uns allen gemein ist, zu erfahren, solange wir emotional verbarrikadiert sind. Man kann ganz klar zum reinen Gewahrsein erwacht sein und trotzdem unwissend bezüglich seines verschlossenen Herzens sein. Auf Herzebene zu erwachen, ist eine intuitive Kapazität im Herzen. Manche erfahren es als „Gott in allem zu sehen.“

Wenn du dich als dieses offene, weite Bewusstsein erkennst, erscheint das ganze Leben sehr wohl wie ein Traum, nicht real. Wenn jedoch das Erwachen des Herzens mit ins Spiel kommt, erfahren wir diese relative Welt als das Göttliche selbst; wir sehen Gott in allem und überall. Es wird nicht länger als flüchtiger Traum mit sekundärer Bedeutung gesehen, sondern als Gott oder Manifestation des Selbst. Klar, der Urgrund transzendiert alle Erfahrungen; das bedeutet jedoch nicht, dass sie nicht göttlich sind. Es ist eine tiefgründige Intimität mit allen Dingen durch die Kapazität des Herzens; poetisch ausgedrückt das Heilige.

Es gibt sogar noch eine Ebene, zu der wir erwachen; eine weitere intuitive Kapazität, die zum Leben erwacht und zwar in der Bauchregion, unserem existentiellsten Selbstgefühl, wo unsere tiefsten Überlebensinstinkte beherbergt sind.

Ja, für gewöhnlich beginnt es mit der Freiheit von der Identifikation mit dem denkenden Geist und dem Körper, aber nach einiger Zeit fühlt sich das, was sich anfangs so frei und befreiend anfühlte, ein wenig trocken an (oft in der Nicht-Dualitätsszene), weil eine tiefe Verbundenheit fehlt. Der Saft fehlt und er kommt erst dann, wenn das Erwachen auch auf Herzebene stattfindet. Der Herzschau innewohnend ist eine Ethik, die ich die Ethik der Erleuchtung nenne. Sehen wir wahrlich die wahre Natur von allem bis in den Kern/ins Herz hinein, sehen wir, dass alle Dinge unbeschreiblich kostbar sind. Was könnte dann bedeutungsvoller und schöner sein, als das Göttliche im Kern der physischen Formen zu erkennen? Das beeinträchtigt auch die Art und Weise, wie wir in der Welt miteinander umgehen. Wenn wir von der nicht so verbundenen, jedoch klaren und reinen Bewusstseinsebene kommen, wo alles eine Illusion / ein Traum ist, dann handeln wir auch basierend auf dieser Erkenntnis.

Es gibt da ein fundamentales Paradox der lebenden Realitätserfahrung, wenn man in die tiefste Wirklichkeit von sich selbst hineinplumpst. Einerseits ist da diese immerwährende und bereits existierende Vollständigkeit, die nicht versucht, besser zu werden oder sich zu entwickeln. Gleichzeitig sind wir zutiefst programmierte und unvollkommene Menschen, ausgestattet mit der endlosen Kapazität, unsere tiefsten Erkenntnisse vollständiger und reichhaltiger zu verkörpern. Wenn das zweite die einzige Dimension ist, die wir kennen, führt das zu Leid. Ist uns jedoch auch die Dimension des Seins zugänglich, kann die menschliche Ebene zu einer immer klareren Verkörperung des Seins werden mit der gleichzeitigen Umarmung der menschlichen Unvollkommenheit. Es ist die Umarmung eines Paradoxons – dass das Absolute und das Menschliche auf tiefster Ebene das Gleiche sind.
